A$AP Rocky Says He Wasn’t Nervous to Act Opposite Denzel Washington in Spike Lee’s New Movie: ‘I Was Born for This’

In Lee’s remake of the Akira Kurosawa crime drama High and Low, Rocky plays aspiring rapper Yung Felon, who is intent on being noticed by Washington’s music mogul character.
The first trailer features Washington delivering a monologue about the highest highs and the lowest lows associated with success, along with moments showcasing performances from rapper Rocky, Jeffrey Wright and Ilfenesh Hadera, who round out the movie’s cast.
Rocky says working with Washington “was like a f—— dream come true.”
“But trust me, it was difficult to not fan the f— out every millisecond of the f—— duration. It was crazy — it’s f——- Denzel, man. I don’t give a f— how successful [I am]: I’m always gonna be a student and a fan of certain people, and I’m always going to give them their flowers,” Rocky continued, later sharing some of his favorite films starring Washington, such as Juice and Malcolm X.
“I’m never going to be too big to be able to say that I had to hold my composure from not fanning out.”
Highest 2 Lowest is in select theaters Aug. 22 and releases on Apple TV+ Sept. 5.
