Andy Cohen’s Father’s Day Plans Included Dinner with John Mayer — and the WWHL Host’s Son Ben Was ‘So Pissed’

John Mayer left Andy Cohen in the hot seat with his kids after the doting dad celebrated Father’s Day night with the singer.

In a snippet of his Andy Cohen Live radio show shared to Instagram Monday, June 16, the Bravo personality, 56, hilariously admitted how his Father’s Day celebrations with his son Ben, 6, and daughter Lucy, 3, ended with his eldest being a bit upset with him.

“John [Mayer] took me out for Father’s Day last night and Ben was so pissed that I was going out to dinner,” he said before sharing a disclaimer. “By the way, I was going out at his bedtime, so like, he wasn’t missing anything.”

“He wanted to go and he revoked my Father’s Day card, which he had made for me,” Cohen continued. “He took it away from me.”

His co-host, John Hill, pointed out that Father’s Day is the “one day” they’re supposed to hang out all day.

Cohen insisted he’d done just that.

“Well, guess what? We celebrated all day. There was 10 minutes left in his day,” he said.

However, once the “Gravity” singer arrived, Ben was in a better mood.

“John melted him. John was singing to him. Ben was sitting there smiling. I was like, ‘Oh, okay. All is, all’s good,’ ” Cohen said.

Cohen is often candid about his love for being a dad. Last year, he shared a few sweet moments from his Father’s Day celebrations on his Instagram Stories — and joked that he got to sleep in just a few minutes for the special occasion.

“Happy Father’s Day to one and all. My present today was that my son got up at 7:05,” the Watch What Happens Live host said at the time. He celebrated the unexpected sleep-in by giving the camera a thumbs-up.

“How great is that?” Cohen added, joking that he thought his now 6-year-old Ben might wake him up much earlier. “Happy Father’s Day to me, and everybody else.”

Cohen also shared that Ben had gifted him a handmade present for the holiday — a set of colorful gem bracelets.

Cohen welcomed Ben on Feb. 4, 2019, and Lucy on April 29, 2022. The proud father of two has previously shared that both kids were born via surrogacy, and although they were carried by different surrogates, they are “biological siblings,” he said.

Just recently, Cohen and his kids also celebrated another special occasion: Lucy’s third birthday. In an Instagram video shared on April 29, he could be seen asking Lucy if there was anything she wanted for her birthday. As the two sat at the table, Lucy said there was one thing she wanted — and her answer made Cohen laugh.

“Lucy, it’s your third birthday tomorrow. What do you want for your birthday?” Cohen asked, to which his daughter replies: “Underwear.”

Holding back a laugh, Cohen asked if there’s anything else she wants other than underwear.

“Underwear,” Lucy said again. “More underwear?” Cohen clarified.

Speaking with PEOPLE in December last year at SiriusXM’s 10th Annual Radio Andy Holiday Hangout, Cohen talked about a few sweet moments he’s shared with his two kids as they’re growing from toddler age into early childhood.

“Ben is love bombing me so much, and Lucy also is so — any quality time that she and I get alone without Ben, she’s so excited about,” Cohen said.

“I took her to the doctor today and she talked about it like I was taking her to, you know, see the Rockettes. She’s like, ‘Daddy and I — just Daddy and I — are going to the doctor, just Daddy and I.’ So she’s very much daddy’s little girl.”
