Bill Belichick gave a special public shout out to his girlfriend Jordon Hudson.
In his new memoir The Art of Winning: Lessons from a Life in Football, released Tuesday, May 6, PEOPLE can confirm that Belichick, 73, includes a mention to Hudson, 24, in the acknowledgements section.

“Thank you to my idea mill and creative muse, Jordon Hudson,” Belichick wrote in the third acknowledgement, just after his longtime friend and business partner Berj Najarian and his literary team at InkWell Management and Simon & Schuster.
“Any individuals I list in appreciation for making this book possible — which really means making my career possible — warrant more than a two-word entry. Collectively, they made me, as did countless others who deserve mention,” Belichick wrote before beginning his acknowledgements.
Hudson is notably not mentioned in the dedications at the start of the book, where Belichick honors his late parents Steve and Jeannette, his godfather Bill Edwards, his late grandparents and his three children: Amanda, Stephen and Brian.
Hudson’s involvement in Belichick’s life became a sore subject for the legendary NFL coach, who will start his stint with the UNC Tar Heels this season, during a recent interview about the book on CBS Sunday Morning.
When Belichick was asked about the public perception of his relationship during the interview, which Hudson later revealed was not previously discussed as an interview topic, he said, “I’ve never been too worried about what everyone else thinks,” adding that instead, he just tries “to do what I feel like is best for me, and what’s right.”
But when journalist Tony Dokoupil asked Belichick to share how he and Hudson first met, the former Bridgewater State cheerleader, acting as his publicist, interjected and said, “We’re not talking about this,” sternly. Dokoupil turned to her and asked, “No?,” to which Hudson doubled down with: “No,”
The clip sparked so much controversy that Saturday Night Live poked fun at the couple during an episode on Saturday, May 3. The sketch joked about forming a “Belichick Law” to “make girlfriends young again.”
On Monday, May 5, a source told PEOPLE that Hudson and Belichick’s relationship “is real despite the age difference.”
They share the “same interests” and “enjoy being together,” said the insider. “He is extremely private and anything she can do to keep that vibe is fine with him. He wants that.”
Hudson is “assertive, smart and ambitious,” added the source, noting that the Trouble Cub Enterprises founder “will always do whatever she can to make him look good.”
