Beckham’s Tearful Lunch: Mom’s Reaction to Knighthood

David Beckham recently shared a touching Instagram post detailing his mother’s emotional reaction to the news of his knighthood by King Charles III.
David, now 50, posted a photo on Monday, June 16, showing him having lunch with his mother at Tony’s Pie and Mash in London.
In the heartfelt post, the star athlete wrote, “Lunch with Mum , haven’t seen her since the news 🥹 mum cried when she arrived , cried during lunch and cried when I was leaving x special moment for us all ❤️ love you mum x @sandra_beckham49 ( Dads next 😂) @tedbeckhamdavid 🥹 @tonyspieandmash 💚.”
The announcement of David’s knighthood by King Charles was made public on Friday, June 13. The official investiture ceremony is scheduled for a later date.
In the comments section of David’s post, his mother, Sandra Beckham, expressed her joy, writing, “Love you more ❤️was emotional people saying congratulations Sir 😢 see tears again 😂 xx.” The restaurant, a beloved spot for the Beckham family, also joined in the celebration, commenting, “Such a special moment for you all. Always lovely to see you all 💚.”

With this prestigious honor, David Beckham is now Sir David Beckham, and his wife, Victoria Beckham, will be addressed as Lady Beckham.
The couple’s son, Romeo Beckham, also shared his excitement about the news. Romeo posted a photo on his Instagram Stories of himself and his father smiling together, accompanied by the caption, “So so proud of you 🤍🤍🤍🤍.” David later reposted the photo to his own Instagram Stories.
David and Victoria also have sons Brooklyn, 26, Cruz, 20, and daughter Harper, 13.
David has a history of working alongside the royal family. He was appointed an Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Queen Elizabeth in 2003 and later became an ambassador for the King’s Foundation in 2024.
“I’m excited to be working with The King’s Foundation and to have the opportunity to help raise awareness of the charity’s work,” he said in a statement at the time.
