A revealing biography of Gwyneth Paltrow will hit shelves this summer.
PEOPLE has a first look at Gwyneth: The Biography, a new book about the acclaimed actress and Goop founder, 52. The book, written by bestselling author Amy Odell, is forthcoming from Gallery Books this summer.
Gwyneth provides an unique look into the life of “one of the most influential and polarizing celebrities of the modern era,” per the book’s description. The biography begins with Paltrow’s early years, growing up in Hollywood with parents Bruce Paltrow and Blythe Danner, and her career trajectory after she won her first Oscar at 26 for 1999’s Shakespeare in Love.
Gwyneth also analyzes how Paltrow leveraged the scrutiny she faced to continue to build her name in the entertainment industry, and later found her lifestyle and wellness company Goop.

The book is based on over 220 exclusive interviews with sources close to Paltrow, including both former and current friends and colleagues, and provides intimate insight into Paltrow’s family, relationships, entrepreneurship and iconic films.

Odell, the author of celebrity biographies like Anna, as well as the essay collection Tales from the Back Row, tells PEOPLE that turning her pen to Paltrow’s story felt like a natural next step.
“After writing an in-depth biography of Anna Wintour, I set out to find another female subject who has made a significant impact on our current culture,” the author tells PEOPLE in an exclusive statement.
