The groom-to-be, 28, said that wedding planning is “fantastic” so far, and that he’s “very excited” for his nuptials, which are “going to be great.” Meanwhile, Guy, 57, is also looking forward to his elder son’s big day, but has more to worry about than walking down the aisle.
“Oh, boy,” Guy told PEOPLE. “Well, I’ve got a big responsibility. I’ve got the catering side of things.”
“It’s also at our ranch,” he added, referring to his family’s famed property in Northern California, where Hunter and Bernstein got engaged on Thanksgiving in 2023.
Back in February, Guy confirmed to PEOPLE that the family ranch would serve as Hunter and Tara’s wedding venue and shared how he envisioned the ceremony playing out.
“We have this big pond and in the center of the pond is an island with a big willow tree on it,” Guy said at the time. “The idea is to have Tara walk across the bridge and do the whole thing.”
The same month, Guy revealed to PEOPLE that the “toughest” part of wedding planning was shortening the guest list. A few months later at the Kentucky Derby, Guy admitted that cutting down invites hasn’t gotten any easier.
“His number, it’s so interesting. ‘Dad, we’re going to have 100 people, 150 people, can I get 200? Can I get 200, can I get 250? 250, 250, 250? I’ll go three. Go 300, 300, 300? 350,’ ” the Food Network star said in an auctioneer chant. “Someone just dropped a 400 on me on the way here today. It’s not going to be 400. We don’t have room for that.”

“It may be a Stagecoach 2.0,” Hunter teased.
Stagecoach 2025 took place between April 25-27 in Indio, California. Guy is a regular at the country music festival, hosting his own stage called Guy Fieri’s Stagecoach Smokehouse since 2018. On the way home from the festival this year, Guy asked Hunter to join him at the Kentucky Derby, knowing his son had never been before.
Hunter and Guy coordinated for the horse race at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky, by wearing “cotton candy” colors. Hunter wore a “mint chip” jacket over a white dress shirt, while Guy opted for a magenta long-sleeve button-up shirt.
“We look like we’re in an Easter parade,” Guy joked, before sharing how the two were excited to bet together.
“We’re going to make our financial donation. We’re going to be betting. Betting? We like to call it betting. We don’t really put too much emphasis on the winning part,” Guy said, with Hunter chiming in, “It’s like fishing, they don’t call it catching.”
