Jenna Bush Hager Says Her Boobs ‘Turned Green’ as a Teenager After a Bad Case of Sunburn on a Topless Beach: ‘Gross’

Jenna Bush Hager has the perfect story to ensure her kids put on sunscreen this summer. 

The 43-year-old Today with Jenna & Friends co-host recalled a shocking experience she had as a teenager when she visited a topless beach. 

“I once went to a topless beach in Spain in high school,” Bush Hager said on the June 17 episode of her morning show. 

“Well, that’s when your boobs look the best!” guest co-host Leslie Bibb noted. 

“Yes, but I will say, if you get burned, it’s not pretty,” Bush Hager added, looking solemn. 

When Bibb, 51, asked if Bush Hager peeled, she nodded that she did, but it got even worse than that. 

“And they may have turned green,” Bush Hager told a shocked Bibb. “The opposite of the color wheel!”

She later admitted the experience was “gross,” saying she wished her younger self hadn’t laid out to tan so much due to the impact it’s had on her skin. As for whether she still tans in the sun, Bush Hager said she now covers up and has regular skin checks.

Not following in their mom’s footsteps, during a 2024 episode of the show, Bush Hager said that her daughters Mila, 13, and Poppy, 9, were very into skincare. 

“I have children who are into skincare,” she said at the time. “They do not have cell phones. They don’t even have iPads. So it is happening, it’s spreading down…”

At the time, Bush Hager added that her kids were shopping for skincare products at Target and CVS. 

“My daughter Mila told me that she went to Target yesterday with a friend. And she goes, ‘Look what I bought. This mini Aquaphor, how cute is this?’ ” Bush Hager said.

She continued, “I just thought, ‘Where have we come?’ And she goes, ‘Why don’t you ever care about that? Why don’t you ever care when I tell you the scrub I purchased?’ I’m like, ‘Mila, because you don’t need it. Look at your beautiful skin. You don’t need it.’ ”
