Jensen Ackles Says Daughter Justice, 12, Is ‘Fired Up’ to ‘See Her Dad in Action’ on His New Show Countdown (Exclusive)

Jensen Ackles says his eldest daughter will finally get to see “her dad in action” in his new crime drama Countdown.

The Supernatural actor, 47, and his wife Danneel Harris Ackles, 46, who married in 2010, share three children together: Justice Jay, 12, and fraternal twins Zeppelin Bram and Arrow Rhodes, 8. During the Season 1 premiere of Countdown in West Hollywood on Wednesday, June 18, Ackles says his daughter will finally get to see him in character.

“I do think my oldest is old enough to watch this, so she’s fired up to see it,” Ackles tells PEOPLE in an exclusive interview.

The actor admits that there hasn’t been much from his acting career that his three children have been able to watch yet.

“There’s not a lot that they can watch yet,” Ackles tells PEOPLE. “She [Justice] hasn’t really gotten to see her dad in action. And in this one, I’ll be in action.”

But despite the kids not being able to watch their dad’s projects on screen just yet, Ackles claims “they know.”

“But they know. Trust me. They know,” he says.

Justice attended her first red carpet during a father-daughter date night to the premiere of the Disney+ movie Zombies 3. “Proud papa moment,” The Winchesters actor captioned the sweet Instagram post of the two. “Took JJ to her first ‘Hollywood Premiere.’ She walked the carpet like a pro (a pro that held on tight to her dad).”

Fans of the “Sexiest TV Star,” according to PEOPLE readers, have his daughter to thank for getting the actor on Instagram. “In an effort 2 squash some posers, my daughter is helping me start an Instagram,” Ackles joked on Twitter in 2015. “Chk it out. Hint: it’s just my name.”

In his first Instagram post, Ackles posted an adorable selfie with 2-year-old Justice writing, “Hello Instagram.” 

Ackles met his wife, Danneel, in 2006 when they both starred in the romantic comedy Ten Inch Hero. They welcomed Justice into the world three years later and expanded their family even more with their twins. They now live near Ackles’ hometown of Dallas in Austin, Texas.
