Royal Couple Connects with Nature in Scenic Scottish Isles
The Prince and Princess of Wales continued their engagements in Scotland with a focus on environmental conservation.
During the second day of their two-day visit to the Scottish Isles on April 30, the royal couple dedicated their time to celebrating the natural environment.
Known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay while in Scotland, they met with the Countryside Rangers from the Mull and Iona Ranger Service at the Ardura Community Forest. These rangers are instrumental in the conservation efforts across both islands.
The couple also engaged with the younger generation, joining a local school group participating in outdoor learning within the ancient forest, now managed by the community.
Prince William and Princess Kate also spent time with the Ardura Acorns, an outdoor learning group that supports children aged 0 to 5 and their caregivers through nature walks, den construction, animal tracking, and storytelling.
Princess Kate has consistently emphasized the significance of a child’s early years in her royal work. She has also been a strong supporter of connecting with nature, even advocating for practices like “forest bathing.”
This connection to the outdoors gained even greater resonance during her cancer treatment last year. In her initial health update following her cancer diagnosis announcement, she shared a photograph of herself outdoors, leaning against a tree in Windsor, their family residence. The image conveyed a sense of hope and encouragement.
Prince William and Princess Kate commenced their Scottish visit on April 29, coinciding with their 14th wedding anniversary. Their first stop was in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, where they visited a community center and an artisan market. Later, they explored a local croft to learn more about sustainable farming and hospitality on the island.
