Kate’s Touching Tribute: Keeping Her Kids Close in Scotland

The Princess of Wales recently showcased a touching tribute to her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, during her visit to Scotland with Prince William.

On April 29, coinciding with her wedding anniversary, the Princess embarked on a two-day official trip to the isles of Mull and Iona. Although Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis were not present, Princess Kate, kept them close to her heart with a meaningful jewelry choice.

A closer look revealed that the Princess of Wales, known as the Duchess of Rothesay or Lady of the Isles in Scotland, layered two exquisite gold necklaces as an ode to her beloved children.

Princess Kate debuted a necklace that appears to be a new addition to her royal wardrobe. The bespoke piece featured the initials G, C, and L, representing her children in their birth order.

Adding to the sentiment, Kate also wore another necklace that has been a cherished part of her collection for some time. The Lady of the Isles also wore her custom Gold pendant necklace, engraved with G, C, and L in script. The royal has owned this piece since at least 2020, notably wearing it for the announcement of The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood in 2021. Kate established the center to champion the importance of early childhood development and improve outcomes for a brighter future, further solidifying this focus with the 2023 launch of the Shaping Us campaign to promote greater awareness.

The set of necklaces celebrating her children wasn’t the only sentimental jewelry Kate wore.

While Princess Kate was largely out of the public eye for much of 2024 after announcing her cancer treatment (and later sharing she is in remission), she occasionally opted for a sparkle ring stack, a departure from her signature engagement ring.

Many believe the eternity bands reflect family relationships. Given that her children’s birthstones are rubies, emeralds, and diamonds, it wouldn’t be surprising if the gems set in the ring are linked to George, Charlotte, and Louis.
