Kim Kardashian’s Surprising Confession: Discovering the Ambani Family at a Lavish Indian Wedding!

Kim Kardashian received an invitation to the star-studded marriage of billionaire heir Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, despite having never previously met the couple.
The SKIMS Founder, 44, disclosed in the latest episode of The Kardashians that she managed to obtain a much-desired invitation to the extravagant wedding in Mumbai thanks to a shared friend.
“I actually don’t know the Ambanis,” Kardashian mentioned during a confessional. “We certainly have mutual friends.”
“Lorraine Schwartz is one of our close friends — she’s a jeweler — she designs jewelry for the Ambani family. She told me that she was going to their wedding and they would be thrilled to invite you, so we kind of decided on a whim and said yes,” she elaborated regarding her and sister Khloé Kardashian’s participation at the wedding.
Khloé remarked that the opulent invitations to the wedding — which she claimed “must’ve weighed 40-50 lbs.” — was ultimately what persuaded them to go. According to The Guardian, the Ambanis sent a carved box featuring a Hindu deity filled with presents that played Hindu mantras as a wedding invitation.
She further elaborated that it was a “once in a lifetime opportunity” to “experience” India in a lavish manner, which was too good to ignore, and they lodged at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel for the festivities.
“It’s just so incredible. What I find myself thinking about the most is what Dad would be thinking. I don’t think Dad ever visited India. These are experiences that most people don’t have. And we get to experience them together, like, what is this life?,” Khloé reflected during a confessional.
Anant, a billionaire heir and the youngest son of Mukesh Ambani (whose net worth is approximately $123 billion) and Nita Ambani, wed Merchant in an extravagant ceremony that commenced on July 12, 2024, at the Jio World Convention Centre located in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex in India. The venue was transformed to resemble the waterfront steps of Varanasi, according to The Guardian, which Khloé described as feeling like stepping into “It’s a Small World” at Disney World.
Attendees included celebrities such as John Cena, Nick Jonas, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, alongside Ivanka Trump, Hillary Clinton, Bill Gates, and members of the Bhutanese royal family. Numerous celebrities also performed at various pre-wedding celebrations for the couple, including Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Justin Bieber.
A calculation by The Guardian estimated that the overall wedding expenses — including the pre-wedding gatherings and payments for the performances of popular artists — was around $600 million.
Kim referred to it as the “most extraordinary wedding ever” and labeled it as the “most extraordinary experience” of her life. She stated on the show, “I’ve never witnessed anything like that in my life … Everything was decked in diamonds … I don’t believe any other culture celebrates a union and love in such a manner.”
The entrepreneur also disclosed that the groom’s sister Isha Ambani expressed to her and Khloé that their presence was the highlight of the wedding for her, as during her time working in the U.S. as a consultant, she would watch KUWTK because it made her feel less lonely and their family felt familiar to her.
“They truly are the kindest family,” Kim mentioned during a confessional.
New episodes of The Kardashians air Thursdays at 12 a.m. ET on Hulu.
