Martin Scorsese, Zoë Kravitz, Olivia Wilde and More Cameo in The Studio Trailer in Which Seth Rogen Realizes His Job Is to ‘Ruin’ Movies

Seth Rogen is a movie-obsessed studio executive who can’t seem to reckon his love for film with, well, business in the first trailer for The Studio.

The upcoming Apple TV+ series, which stars Rogen, Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz and Chase Sui Wonders, sees Rogen play Matt Remick, the newly appointed head of an embattled Hollywood film studio. As the trailer begins, Matt’s big dilemma is revealed: “I love movies, but now I have this fear that my job is to ruin them.”

He’s got high hopes that as the studio head, he can convince everyone — and really, himself — that “prestige films and box office hits” are “not mutually exclusive,” and the studio can make both. But it quickly becomes clear that it’s not that simple.

“Matt, I get it, you wanna make great art and make a billion dollars doing it. Well guess what — that never happens, and you’re gonna screw everything up trying to make it happen,” David Krumholtz’s character warns him.

As he becomes the face of the studio, he’s on everyone’s radar — stars from Martin Scorsese to Zoë Kravitz and Adam Scott all make cameos in the trailer and will appear in the series. But as he comes to realize, “Everyone wants something from me and I can’t give it to them.”

Olivia Wilde also makes an appearance, telling Matt, “Fine is not good enough,” and seemingly adding to his ever-growing list of concerns.

“The job makes you stressed and panicked and miserable,” O’Hara’s character tells him as the trailer comes to an end, teasing plenty of chaos to come. “But when it all comes together and you make a good movie, it’s good forever.”

The 10-episode series sees Matt and “his core team of infighting executives battle their own insecurities as they wrangle narcissistic artists and craven corporate overlords in the ever-elusive pursuit of making great films,” per the official synopsis.

“With their power suits masking their neverending sense of panic, every party, set visit, casting decision, marketing meeting, and award show presents them with an opportunity for glittering success or career-ending catastrophe. As someone who eats, sleeps, and breathes movies, it’s the job Matt’s been pursuing his whole life, and it may very well destroy him.”

The Studio premieres Wednesday, March 26 on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes, followed by one episode weekly through May 21.
