Megan Thee Stallion’s Met Gala White Hot Moment: Glamour & Extravagance!
In October 2024, it was announced that Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour would co-chair the 2025 Met Gala, with LeBron James serving as honorary chair. The event, a fundraiser for The Costume Institute held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, will spotlight the museum’s spring 2025 exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which also serves as the gala’s theme.
Curator in Charge Andrew Bolton explained that the exhibit, inspired by guest curator Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book *Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity*, explores “the Black dandy as both a concept and an identity signifier.”
According to a museum post, the exhibit “presents a cultural and historical examination of Black style from the 18th century to the present through an exploration of the concept of dandyism.”
The Met Gala’s dress code, “Tailored for You,” is a slight departure from the overall theme, nodding to the exhibition’s focus on menswear and suiting. The gala also boasts a star-studded host committee including Simone Biles and her husband, Jonathan Owens, as well as Doechii, Regina King, Spike Lee, Angel Reese, and Usher.
The May 5 event marks Megan’s third appearance at the Met Gala, and she has consistently made a statement with her memorable looks.
In 2022, Megan stunned in a pair of metallic golden wings and a curve-hugging, head-to-toe gold ensemble. “I feel like I’m gold anyway, and I feel like I came out here to give my skin, I came out here to give melanin,” Megan said of her look. “Gold looks beautiful on me.”
Arriving with the label’s creative director Jeremy Scott and an entourage of stars dressed in the same brand, Megan’s look took flight with a floor-length silhouette featuring a thigh-high leg slit and sheer cutouts around her waist.
“Me and Jeremy have been talking in the DMs forever. I feel like I’ve always known him, I feel like he’s so fun,” she said of their collaboration. “And he was like, ‘Megan, you coming to the Met Gala with me?’ I was like, ‘Yes I am. OK, that’s fine. Here I come.'”
Megan mentioned that the look came together in “probably like a week,” adding: “I feel like everybody’s been preparing for so long, and I was just like, ‘Jeremy, you know what to do. Get it together.’ And he hit it in a week.”
The dress code for that year’s Met Gala was white-tie with an emphasis on Gilded Glamour, and the theme was “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” celebrating the “inclusivity” of American fashion.
The Grammy winner also attended the Met Gala in 2021. That night, Megan shone in a custom baby pink dress that featured a sweetheart neckline and a gathered tulle hem. She completed her look with heels and jewelry.
Of her ensemble, Megan shared that her inspiration “was Old Hollywood, with a hot girl twist.”
