Harry & Meghan’s New Power Players: Gates Foundation Alum Joins the Team

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made key appointments within their team, assigning two longtime staffers to new, important roles.

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, and the Duke of Sussex, 40, have named Sarah Fosmo as their office’s chief of staff and Lianne Cashin as an advisor.

Fosmo’s new role sees her overseeing Meghan during a period of significant change and growth. This includes the recent launch of her production projects and the rebrand of her lifestyle company.

According to her professional profile, Fosmo previously worked for a prominent philanthropist’s office for nearly six years. She departed that role in December 2024, the same month she joined Harry and Meghan’s team, according to her profile.

Her professional profile describes her as an “accomplished professional with an extensive, long-tenured career managing complex, high-stakes operations for Ultra High Net Worth Individuals (UHNWIs).” It also notes that she is “adept at navigating high-pressure environments” and is “trusted with confidential matters.”

Cashin, on the other hand, previously served as the executive assistant to Harry’s former chief of staff.

The previous chief of staff began his role shortly before the couple’s official visit in May 2024 and departed three months later. He was hired on a trial basis, and the decision to part ways was mutual, with both sides agreeing it wasn’t the right fit.

Before that, Cashin worked for a well-known athlete. She was a personal assistant to the professional snowboarder, even appearing in a profile of the Olympian back in 2014.

Fosmo isn’t the first member of Harry and Meghan’s team to have previous connections to prominent figures. Their former chief of staff previously worked for a major foundation prior to working with Meghan and Harry to guide their organization in early 2020.

The former chief of staff later shared that working with the couple “was an incredible experience.”

“They are incredibly talented and creative leaders,” the former employee said. “I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to do that, to be able to be with them on their journey. The time that I spent with them was incredibly fulfilling.”
