Miley Cyrus Claims Dad Billy Ray Smoked Pot on Hannah Montana Set

Miley Cyrus and her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, seemingly had the best of both worlds on the set of Hannah Montana.

The former child star, 32, was a guest on her mother Tish Cyrus, and sister Brandi Cyrus’ Sorry We’re Cyrus podcast on Thursday, June 19, and answered a series of rapid-fire questions.

“What’s a core memory from the Hannah Montana days that still makes you laugh?” Tish, 58, asked. 

Without hesitation, the “Flowers” singer replied: “Dad smoking pot and everyone blaming me for it.”

Tish laughed at the thought while Brandi, 38, shot her a look. 

“I do remember that,” the actress and DJ confessed.

The father-daughter duo starred in the teenage sitcom, which ran on the Disney Channel from 2006 to 2011.

Miley recalled the situation being “hilarious,” while Tish remembered things a bit differently. Tish, who divorced Billy Ray in 2022 after 28 years of marriage, said she would get calls that the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer was “smoking pot,” but she would never believe the reports.

“I was saying, ‘Absolutely not, he would never do that,’ ” Tish said.

She and the Bangerz singer instead blamed Miley’s Hannah Montana costar Mitchel Musso, who played Oliver Oken.

A rep for Bill Ray had no comment when reached by PEOPLE.

Miley has been making her podcast rounds lately. 

While on a press tour for her Something Beautiful album, she appeared on the June 10 episode of the Wondery podcast, Reclaiming with Monica Lewinsky.

During their chat, Miley opened up about her family’s headline-making drama.

“My family and I have had a really difficult … What did you call your decade? Dark decade. Yeah, we had one of those,” Miley told the activist and author, 51.

“Half of us weren’t speaking to each other at one point, and we cleaned all that up,” the “Wrecking Ball” singer continued. “That was a really important part of my year this year, was all of my family putting those lines of communication back together. A lot because of, you know, I had a lot of loyalty to my mom, the way that families do when parents get divorced.”

“I watched what happens when you don’t clean things up as they’re happening. They really do stack, and then all of a sudden you go, ‘Oh my God, it’s been 10 years, and this is a mess that I barely even know how to start. This is like emotional hoarding,’” Miley told Lewinsky of her family dynamic.

“We’re so messy we didn’t even do any of that,” the actress later said while discussing therapy.

However, she shared that she and her family have come a long way, revealing plans to use her music to tell their story.

“I mean, I even wrote a song about it that’s actually not on this album,” Miley said. “I’m working on another album, and that’s a song that I’m working on called ‘Secrets.’”

Tish and Billy Ray share three children: Miley, Braison, 31, and Noah, 25. Tish also has two children, Brandi and Trace, 36, with her first husband, Baxter Neal Helson. Billy Ray adopted Brandi and Trace after he and Tish married in 1993. He also has a son, Christopher, from his previous relationship with Kristin Luckey.
