Niecy Nash and Wife Jessica Don’t Plan Matching Red Carpet Looks: ‘It’s a Telepathy Thing’ (Exclusive)

Niecy Nash-Betts and Jessica Betts have a next-level connection.

At the InStyle Imagemaker Awards on Thursday, Oct. 24, the couple arrived in chic black-and-white looks, but the coordinating moment wasn’t planned.

“I just said, ‘Can you look nice? And I’m wearing black and white.’ And that was it,” Niecy, 54, told PEOPLE at the Los Angeles event.

“Even when we don’t try, we come out of the room and we end up matching,” the Grotesquerie star continued. “Even if we don’t try. It’s a telepathy thing.”

Jessica, 42, added, “We are absolutely in sync.”

The couple, who tied the knot in 2020, also opened up about their favorite parts of marriage.

“The best part of marriage for me is waking up next to her every morning,” Jessica shared.

“Oh you stole my line!” Niecy joked. “I was going to say that. The best part of marriage, ‘cause somebody stole my line, is actually being married to my best friend.”

During an appearance on the Thursday, Oct. 17 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Niecy shared that she and her wife set a goal for their marriage.

“I divorced a man and married a woman,” Niecy told host Jimmy Kimmel. (Niecy filed for divorce from ex-husband Jay Tucker in 2019.)

“And then when I got married this time, I had this plan, and it wasn’t deep,” she continued. “I just said, ‘I want to make love all around the world.’ And so far, we have been to 26 countries in four years!”

So far, the actress confirmed, the couple has made love in 26 countries.

“Do you have to be touched down on the ground in a room, or like, if you’re flying over? Does it work?” Kimmel, 56, asked. “Do you ever feel any pressure, like, ‘Oh yeah, we’re here for only one night, we gotta do this?'”

“No, it’s a plan,” Niecy replied. “And we stick to the plan.”
