Bezos Wedding Unveiled: The Hidden Moments & Surprise Guests

The recent wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez in Venice was undeniably the most extravagant event of the summer, and certainly the most star-studded. Insiders reveal that the three-day celebration was also deeply heartfelt, with many guests moved to tears as Sánchez walked down the aisle in her custom Dolce & Gabbana gown on Friday, June 27.

“We all cried watching you walk down the aisle in pure bliss!” Kim Kardashian shared on social media, reflecting the sentiment of many attendees. “The love we all felt in the room is what we will never forget.”

Diane von Furstenberg, who hosted a pre-wedding dinner on Wednesday, June 25, echoed this, saying, “Truly, the entire celebration was sincere and heartfelt.”

The festivities began in earnest the following day with a welcome party for friends, including Tom Brady, David Geffen, Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King, Orlando Bloom, Sydney Sweeney, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kris Jenner, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, Karlie Kloss and Josh Kushner, and Kim and Khloé Kardashian.

While many details were widely reported (the A-list guests, the dress!), much remained unseen. Here’s a glimpse behind the scenes of this “epic” extravaganza.

### Diane von Furstenberg and Barry Diller Opened Their Home

The welcome event on Thursday, June 26, was held at a private cloister near the Madonna dell’Orto church. Guests enjoyed Italian pasta prepared by Fabrizo Mellini, chef of the three-Michelin-starred restaurant Quattro Passi in Nerano, Naples, and Neapolitan pizza by Ciro Oliva, a fourth-generation pizzaiolo revolutionizing his family’s historic pizzeria, Concettina ai Tre Santi.

### Ellie Goulding Performed Romantic Songs

The British singer, who famously performed at Prince William and Princess Kate’s wedding in 2011 (their first dance was to Goulding’s cover of Elton John’s “Your Song”), also performed at Jeff and Lauren’s reception. However, the first song after the vows was Matteo Bocelli’s version of “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”

### Bill Gates Enjoyed Some Culture

Bill Gates visited Venice’s Gallerie dell’Accademia on Monday, June 30, to quietly contemplate Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man, recently removed from protective storage. Gates has long admired Da Vinci, having acquired the artist’s Leicester Codex for $30 million in 1994.

### The Final Party: Cabaret and Cannoli

The Saturday night party was a memorable event.

“It went until 4 in the morning, after starting at 7 pm,” said one guest. “Everyone wore silk robes and slippers. There was a buffet with Italian desserts like tiramisu, cannolis, and chocolate at different stations. There were also cabaret-style dancers like Moulin Rouge-style.”

### Surprise Guests on the Dance Floor!

Diplo and Jessica Alba were among fresh faces seen in Venice for the final day. A source mentioned that Mick Jagger attended the Saturday night party, along with Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld, who joined the dancing as DJ Mei Kwok played Rihanna’s “We Found Love.”

“It was epic,” said the guest. “Best dancer award goes to Jessica Alba, she was tearing up the dance floor.”
