Rihanna’s Mom Hack: Taming Toddler Chaos With RZA & Riot!
Rihanna recently shared a relatable parenting moment, proving that even pop icons resort to everyday tactics to engage their children.
On Sunday, April 27, the 37-year-old singer posted an Instagram Story featuring a video of herself using the platform’s banana filter. The caption read, “Since my kids love bananas so much but wanna ignore me.” The clip, highlighting her playful attempt to capture the attention of her two sons, RZA, 2, and Riot, 20 months, was set to H.E.R.’s 2016 song “Focus.”
While Rihanna, who shares her children with A$AP Rocky, 36, generally keeps them out of the public eye, she offered a glimpse into their personalities in a recent interview. She revealed that both boys seem to be following in their musically inclined parents’ footsteps.
Rihanna described RZA as “So magical. He loves music. He loves melody. He loves books. He loves water. Bath time, swimming, pool, beach, anything.” She also noted that her eldest is “an empath.”
As for Riot, who arrived in August 2023, the “Umbrella” singer shared that he’s “just hilarious” and appears to have inherited her love for singing. “When he wakes up, he starts to squeal, scream. Not in a crying way. He just wants to sing,” she said. “And I’m like, ‘Okay, here we go!’ He’s my alarm in the morning! He’s not taking no for an answer from anyone.”
The singer playfully remarked that Riot’s personality mirrors her own, joking, “I don’t know where he came from, dude.”
Rihanna also touched upon some of the challenges of parenthood, explaining that RZA initially had some difficulty adjusting to the arrival of his younger brother but has since embraced his role as the older sibling.
“… At first Riot was understanding that his role was being the little brother. Now [RZA] knows he’s in charge,” she said.
Reflecting on motherhood in general, Rihanna shared that it’s “legendary.” “It’s everything,” she said. “You really don’t remember life before, that’s the craziest thing ever.”
