Riley Gaines’ Baby Bliss: A New Chapter Amidst Biles Debate

The former swimmer shared the news during an event on June 14, where she also made a pointed remark seemingly aimed at Simone Biles amid their ongoing disagreement.

The former swimmer, 25, revealed that she and husband Louis Barker are expecting their first child, a girl, during an event on Saturday, June 14. She also alluded to her recent online exchange with Simone Biles in her announcement.
She recalled the moment she learned Biles, 28, had criticized her online – when the multi-Olympic medalist labeled Gaines “truly sick” after Gaines made comments deemed anti-transgender. Referencing a separate social media post where Biles told her to “Bully someone your own size, which would ironically be a man,” Gaines addressed the crowd, saying, “How many men do you know that have this?”
At that moment, Gaines revealed her baby bump, prompting cheers from the audience.
Gaines later shared a photo of herself and her husband on social media, where the couple, who married in 2022, posed with a horse and ultrasound images.
“Surprise! We’re 26 weeks pregnant!” the expectant mom wrote in her caption. “God is SO good all the time.”
The podcast host also shared news coverage of the announcement, writing, “There’s something so special and providential about having a little girl.”
“She’s everything I’ve been fighting for & the little girl we’ve prayed over for years 🩷 praise God,” Gaines added.
Gaines’ pregnancy announcement follows shortly after her and Biles’ social media exchange garnered attention.
The back-and-forth began after Gaines commented on a post celebrating a softball state championship win.
In response, Gaines wrote that the win is “to be expected when your star player is a boy,” referring to a transgender woman on the team who helped secure the victory.
Reacting to the comment, Biles wrote, “@Riley_Gaines_ You’re truly sick, all of this campaigning because you lost a race. Straight up sore loser. You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive OR creating a new avenue where trans feel safe in sports. Maybe a transgender category IN ALL sports!! ”
“But instead… You bully them…,” Biles continued. “One things for sure is no one in sports is safe with you around!!!!”
In a separate post, Biles added, “Bully someone your own size, which would ironically be a male.”
