Jiggly Caliente: A Drag Race Legend’s Untimely Farewell
RuPaul’s Drag Race alum, Jiggly Caliente, has passed away at the age of 44.
Bianca Castro, known to fans as Jiggly Caliente, died on Sunday, April 27th, following complications from a recent leg amputation due to a severe infection, her family shared in a heartfelt statement on her Instagram account.
“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Bianca Castro-Arabejo, known to the world and cherished by many as Jiggly Caliente. Bianca passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025, at 4:42 am, surrounded by her loving family and close friends,” the family’s message began.
They described Caliente as “a luminous presence in the worlds of entertainment and advocacy,” who “touched countless lives through her artistry, activism, and the genuine connection she fostered with fans around the world.”
“Her legacy is one of love, courage, and light. Though her physical presence is gone, the joy she shared and the space she helped create for so many will remain forever,” the statement continued. “She will be deeply missed, always loved, and eternally remembered.”
The announcement of Caliente’s passing came shortly after her family shared an update on April 24th, revealing that she had experienced a “serious health setback” and had undergone amputation of her right leg due to an infection.
The family also noted that the beloved reality star would be unable to fulfill her role as a judge on the upcoming season of RuPaul’s Drag Race Philippines and would be withdrawing from all public appearances.
Caliente rose to prominence during season four of RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2011. She later publicly shared that she was transgender in 2016.
Following the news of her death, countless individuals took to social media to honor Caliente’s memory.
Fellow Drag Race contestant Laganja Estranja from season six wrote, “So heartbreaking 😢 such a kind, caring soul!! She will be greatly missed ❤️🙏🏼.”
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Divina De Campo commented, “All my love to the family she was always such a supportive sister x.”
“Forever and always Jiggly Caliente BROOKS. We love you forever sister,” added Mistress Isabelle Brooks, a star from season 15 of Drag Race.
