Teddi Mellencamp on ‘Day-to-Day Decision’ of Wearing a Wig amid Cancer Treatment: ‘Crying Days I Tend to Pick the Wig’

Teddi Mellencamp continues to open up about her day-to-day life as she navigates her ongoing cancer journey.

On Tuesday, May 6, she posted an Instagram photo of her wearing a blonde wig, explaining that she sometimes will opt to wear it out and about. But in her Instagram caption, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum explained there’s a “day to day decision of wig versus no wig.”

“Crying days I tend to pick the wig,” she confessed. “The highs and lows of treatment for stage 4 brain and lung tumors are pretty extreme.”

She urged her followers to “go get your yearly checks.” Adding, “It’s melanoma awareness month. No better time than now to book and remind a friend or loved one.”

Fellow Bravo celebrities commented on the TV personality’s Instagram photo.

“Thank you for reminding everyone to take care of their health. You look beautiful as always. ❤️,” Jackie Mark Goldschneider wrote. Vanderpump Rules alum Scheana Shay added, “You are beautiful!” Dolores Catania echoed her sentiments and commented, “Gorgeous.”

The Tuesday Instagram post comes after she first shared in February that her melanoma had spread to her lungs and brain, and she was diagnosed with multiple stage 4 tumors.

She has since revealed in a Wednesday, April 23, Instagram post that her tumors had “significantly shrunk.” She said her doctors believe her treatment “will work,” and she “will be back to [herself] and feeling good.”

“Hopefully I am done and I will be cancer-free,” after the upcoming final two immunotherapy sessions, she said.

Days after sharing her positive news, she appeared at the An Unforgettable Evening 2025 Gala on Monday, April 28, debuting her shaved head on the red carpet for the first time since she shared her diagnosis.

At the event, she exclusively told PEOPLE that she’s “feeling pretty good.”

“You know, when people come up to me and they’re like, ‘You’re so strong, you did this.’ I’m like, half the time I’m strong, and half the time I’m crying and sad,” Mellencamp added.

“[But, at the moment] I feel good,” she continued. “What I’ve learned is that I have amazing kids.” She shares daughters Slate, 12, and Dave, 5, and son Cruz, 10, with her estranged husband  Edwin Arroyave.

“I have amazing friends and a support system that’s there for me, and I think that’s huge,” she said, adding that she wasn’t sure if she would be well enough to attend the event.
