In the days leading up to his death, 18-year-old TikTok star Chrystofer Whyte posted videos that have since resonated deeply with his audience.

Whyte, who had amassed over 100,000 followers, regularly shared clips with meaningful, inspirational messages before he was fatally shot on June 12. According to a press release from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, two teenagers have been charged in connection with Whyte’s murder.

The TikTok star shared several poignant video messages on his social media account before his tragic death at the age of 18.

A report by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office indicates that the influencer was murdered in Long Branch, N.J., on Thursday, June 12. Two teens – one a juvenile and the other an 18-year-old – have been charged in connection with Whyte’s murder.

Whyte boasted over 100,000 followers on TikTok, where he frequently posted videos of himself dancing and lip-syncing to music. His last video was posted on the same day he was shot. The short clip, which has garnered over 6 million views, features the content creator sitting in his swimsuit on a crowded beach.

He also often uploaded videos with inspiring quotes in the captions. In a TikTok posted the day before his death, Whyte wrote, “I don’t know, man, I’ve just got this crazy confidence that everything will work out in the end.”

Following his death, viewers commented on the sentiment and the tragic irony of Whyte’s motivational message. “Well this is heartbreaking,” one person wrote. Another agreed, “This world is so cruel.”

In another video posted on the day of his death, Whyte cautioned his TikTok fans, “Stay away from [people] that ignore you until they need you.” Again, the comments reflected on the fact that he died shortly after uploading the video, and many honored his memory with heartfelt tributes.

“It’s sad we just never know our last day, rest in paradise,” one viewer commented. Another wrote, “This isn’t how you were supposed to be known 💔.”

One person, claiming to be Whyte’s former teacher, left a heartfelt message below his most recent video. “Chrys was in my class my very first year of teaching,” she commented. “This is so sad. Sending condolences and praying for his family at this time.”

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office reported that local authorities responded to reports of gunshots fired and discovered Whyte upon arrival. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The minor charged in connection with the murder faces juvenile complaints including: “Murder, conspiracy to commit unlawful possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a prohibited weapon and hindering.”

Due to his age, his identity is not being released, and he is currently in a juvenile detention center, according to the Prosecutor’s Office press release.

Dwayne Exilus, 18, also faces charges of “second-degree conspiracy to commit unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, third-degree hindering, and one count of fourth-degree possession of a prohibited weapon.”

An investigation into Whyte’s death remains ongoing. Stay tuned for more updates from Eternal Pen.
