Who Is Edmonton Oilers Star Connor McDavid’s Wife? All About Designer Lauren Kyle McDavid

Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid has found his biggest cheerleader in wife Lauren Kyle McDavid.

Connor — who has been with the Edmonton Oilers since 2015 — met Lauren when they were teenagers. They got engaged in 2023 and married in 2024.

Over the years, Lauren, a designer and bar owner, has shown her support for her husband a number of times, including during the Oilers’ run in the 2025 NHL Stanley Cup Finals. Connor has also shown up for his wife, most recently celebrating the June 2025 opening of her Edmonton bar, Bar Trove.

“She’s got a big heart. She cares about people. I think that’s why she’s gotten into the field that she has,” Connor told theScore in June. “She enjoys creating these experiences for people that she cares about and for others.”

She’s from Canada

Like Connor, Lauren is from Canada.

Lauren graduated from Ryerson University in Toronto, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in interior design, she told The Design Society.

She spent several post-college years working for firms that specialized in office and home design. In 2019, she relocated from Toronto to Edmonton with Connor, she told the site.

They live in Edmonton

After Lauren’s 2019 move to Edmonton, the couple moved in together, they told Architectural Digest in 2021.

The Alberta, Canada, home was custom-built for them and designed by Lauren. It features a basketball court, a speakeasy-inspired play room with a pool table and an outside patio with heaters for cold Canadian nights.

Conner and Lauren met through friends

Connor and Lauren met on a “blind-ish” date in 2015 set up by Connor’s former teammate, Luke Gazdic, Lauren told Offside in March 2025.

Their first date didn’t go perfectly, though — partially because Connor was under the legal drinking age at that time. (In Toronto, the legal drinking age is 19.)

“He was 18 and I was 19,” she said. “It was funny because I had to, like, use my ID to get us a bottle of wine, because he was underage.”

They got engaged in June 2023

After nearly eight years of dating, Connor proposed to Lauren on June 22, 2023. The proposal happened on a deck overlooking Canada’s Lake Muskoka, with Lauren writing on Instagram that it was “the best day of my life.”

“I knew you were my person from the day we met and I can’t wait for the beautiful life we are going to create together,” she said. “I cannot put into words how happy I am to be spending the rest of our lives together. Almost 8 years of growth, happiness and so much love and I can’t believe we have so much more to look forward to.”

They got married in 2024

Connor and Lauren wed in the summer of 2024 at Lake Muskoka, the same place where the couple got engaged. The wedding was held on the lake’s Old Woman Island, which is accessible only by boat, she told Australian Vogue.

“Our favorite place in the world is our cottage in Muskoka,” Lauren explained. “Being on the water is so peaceful and calming.”

Lauren wore five dresses throughout the weekend. For the rehearsal dinner — where the dress code was “Old Money” — she wore a vintage white dress with an embellished buckle from Ralph Lauren. Prior to the ceremony, she donned a strapless Danielle Frankel Yara dress, while during the ceremony itself, she wore a custom Vivienne Westwood Couture strapless gown.

At the reception, Lauren changed into a nude Oscar de la Renta gown paired with studded Dior heels. Finally, at the afterparty, Lauren changed one more time into a strapless Chloé mini dress.

Lauren is a designer

After starting her career at other firms, Lauren launched her own group, Kyle&Co design studio, in 2019. Lauren’s aesthetic is “modern sleekness with a touch of classical warmth,” she told The Design Society.

Lauren also designs a clothing line called Sports Club Atelier, which focuses on Edmonton Oilers apparel.

To celebrate the Oilers’ victory after a pivotal February 2025 game, Lauren posted a photo with the team’s wives and girlfriends wearing her custom matching jackets, according to a screenshot obtained by Sports Illustrated.

She owns a bar

Lauren is also the owner of Bar Trove in Edmonton, which, according to its website, offers “an escape where exceptional drinks and elegant ambiance come together.”

The bar officially opened on June 6, according to a post on her Instagram.

Connor and Lauren have a dog named Lenny

Connor and Lauren’s Bernedoodle Lenny plays a big role in their lives. He is listed as Kyle&Co’s CEO on the firm’s website — although at work, he goes by his full name, Lenard.

In 2022, Lenny joined Connor on the ice for a “Ruff Ruff” relay game, which Lenny won, per a video posted by Sportsnet.

Lenny was even part of Connor’s 2023 proposal. The pup wore a white, wedding-themed handkerchief around his neck and posed for photos.

In 2024, Lenny joined the couple at a ceremony celebrating Connor reaching 1,000 career points in the NHL.

“No kids yet so he’s the closest thing I got,” Connor told Sportsnet afterwards. “He’s a great little dog and I love him.”
