Mikayla Matthews and her husband, Jace Terry, first connected when she was a teenager.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star and Terry met after Matthews left home when she was 15 years old, she explained in a September 2021 TikTok.
Matthews and Terry welcomed their first child, Beckham, when she was just 17. The couple married less than a year later, on March 1, 2018, and have since gone on to welcome two more children, daughters Tommie and Haven.
In February 2025, they announced that they are expecting their fourth baby — but they may not be stopping there!
“When people ask me how many kids I want, I’m like, ‘I’ve always wanted three or four, but I could see myself having six,’ ” she told PEOPLE at the time. “I’m excited to hopefully move into a new house. I want a big lot for my herd of kids.”
Terry, who Matthews has lauded as being a supportive husband and father, has also shared his admiration for Matthews since the beginning of their relationship.
“Couldn’t possibly be happier about who I get to be with every day and who my son gets to have for his mother,” he wrote on Instagram shortly after the birth of their first child in July 2017. “She has sacrificed so much of her life and I’m so in love.”
So who is Mikayla Matthews’ husband? Here’s everything to know about Jace Terry and his relationship with the reality TV star.
He’s part of “DadTok”
Terry was more in the background in the first season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, but Matthews held out hope that he would show off more of his personality in season 2.
“Me and my husband are very witty and playful with each other,” she told PEOPLE in September 2024. “I think he’s the funniest person I know, but he’s rarely on the show.”
That changed in season 2 when Terry started making more appearances not only on the show, but also on social media with the fellow husbands of the Mormon Wives.
In a January 2025 TikTok, Terry joined Taylor Frankie Paul’s on-and-off boyfriend Dakota Mortensen and Jessi Ngatikaura’s husband Jordan Ngatikaura in a video where they playfully referred to themselves as “DadTok,” a nod to the show’s focus on their wives, who are part of the popular “MomTok” community on TikTok.

“When dadtok tries to make you film cringey videos with them,” Terry wrote over a video of Mortensen and Ngatikaura jokingly arguing over his head about what content to make.
Matthews claimed he was fired from his job following the show’s premiere
Matthews claimed on her Instagram Stories that Terry was fired from his job after the premiere of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Per his LinkedIn, Terry was a project manager for Waffle Love, a food establishment in Utah, until August 2024.
A few months later, Matthews joked that Terry had gotten a new job as her castmate Jessi’s personal assistant at her hair salon, sharing a video on Instagram of him mixing colors, making sodas and organizing extensions for her while Jessi “yelled” at him.
Matthews and Terry met when she was in high school
Matthews first met Terry when she was 16 years old. In the September 2021 TikTok, the content creator explained that she and Terry found out she was pregnant “after less than a month of knowing each other.”
“I decided to keep the baby, told him and he was 110% supportive and we went from there,” she wrote.
They got married in 2018
Matthews and Terry welcomed their first child, Beckham, when Matthews was just 17. The couple married six months later, on March 1, 2018.
Matthews celebrated their 7th anniversary in March 2025, sharing a series of sweet memories from their years together, along with a wedding photo, on Instagram.
“7 years married to my best friend 💖💍,” she wrote in the caption. “he sticks by me and cheers me on in every aspect of my life. Has truly carried me through chronic illness and all the struggles that have come with it the last 3 years. Wouldn’t want to do it with anyone else🫶🏼✨.”
They are expecting their fourth child
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star shares three children — Beckham, Haven and Tommie — with Terry. The couple welcomed Beckham in July 2017 before expanding their family with the birth of their daughter, Haven, in August 2019. Tommie joined the family in November 2021.
In February 2025, the two announced that they were expecting their fourth child.
Matthews shared on Instagram that her younger children “light up” during every “stage” of her pregnancy, from kissing her growing belly to accompanying her on doctor appointments.
“I love seeing them be so involved,” Matthews wrote in the caption. “They ask me every week all the new things with babies development and how long I have left. They’re so excited and it makes me even more excited.”
Matthews told PEOPLE that this pregnancy was unexpected for both her and her husband, especially in light of her recent health challenges. She has spoken openly online about living with chronic eczema and an undiagnosed chronic illness, which worsened after the birth of her third child and ultimately led her to remove her breast implants.
“With my health stuff, I didn’t think I could get pregnant right now,” Matthews said. “My husband was with me when I took the test. He never really has much of a reaction to anything, but we were both pretty in shock.”
She continued, “Then it set in and we got really excited. We’re definitely excited, nervous about my health and possibly passing anything on, but excited.”
Matthews also shared that they’re open to growing their family even more.
“It’s so wild to me that we’ll be a family of six. I feel like it’s the Mormon in me coming out,” she said. “I’m surrounded by Mormon culture still and my husband’s siblings all have so many kids. They’re like, ‘Once you hit three kids, you can have 10 kids.’ That’s kind of the mindset I have.”
He supports her through her health journey
Matthews has often said that her husband has been incredibly supportive as she undergoes treatment for chronic eczema and seeks a diagnosis for her chronic illness.
In a December 2023 Instagram post, she thanked him for his unwavering support.
“I can’t even begin to express how grateful I am for him💗,” she wrote in the caption. “He’s been my absolute rock through all of this, picked me up from my lowest points, and continues to be the best dad everyday. Ilysm🥹.”
