Georgia Groome: Beyond Angus, Thongs, and Rupert Grint
Rupert Grint is best known as Ron Weasley from the “Harry Potter” films, where he played one half of a beloved friends-to-lovers story. However, in his personal life, he’s been in a relationship with Georgia Groome for over a decade.
The pair were first linked in 2011 and have largely kept their relationship away from the public eye. They welcomed their first child, a daughter named Wednesday, in May 2020. Five years later, in April 2025, Grint announced the birth of their second daughter, Goldie.
Though the couple rarely discuss each other publicly, Grint shared some insights into their relationship in a 2021 interview.
“It’s a very natural thing — we’re just best friends. We’re kind of the same person; we think the same way. That’s always made it work — that’s why it’s lasted. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what it is, but it works and it’s great,” he said.

She is an actress
Like Grint, Groome has been acting since childhood. She played 11-year-old runaway Joanne in the 2006 film “London to Brighton” as a young teen and later starred in “Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging” in 2008.
She has continued to act over the years, including a role in the 2017 horror film “Double Date.”
She and Grint have been dating since 2011
While Grint and Groome have kept their relationship private, reports indicate they’ve been together since 2011.
In April 2019, the couple sparked marriage rumors when they were seen wearing matching gold rings. However, a representative for Grint denied that they had married.
They share two daughters
Grint and Groome became parents in May 2020 with the arrival of their daughter, Wednesday.
A few months later, the “Knock at the Cabin” actor shared the first photo of their daughter on Instagram, marking his first-ever post on the platform.
“Hey Instagram….only 10 years late, but here I am,” he wrote alongside a photo of himself and his baby girl. “Grint on the Gram! Here to introduce you all to Wednesday G. Grint. Stay safe, Rupert.”
In March 2022, Grint discussed the origin of his daughter’s name with Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show.” “It’s a good name, isn’t it?” he said.
When Fallon asked why he chose Wednesday, Grint explained, “Well I’m always hesitant to say it was The Addams Family but it was, yeah, kind of The Addams Family. I just always loved the name, it’s a good name, it’s kind of memorable.” He added that Samuel L. Jackson inspired him in giving her the middle initial G.
The actor also mentioned that he’d already introduced his daughter to the “Harry Potter” series — and she even had a special prop!
“I’ve already started showing her the trailers, and she has a wand and a PEZ dispenser with my head on it,” Grint said.
On April 27, 2025, Grint announced on Instagram that he and Groome had welcomed their second daughter, Goldie. Like her older sister, her middle initial is also G.
“‘Secret Child Slightly Revealed,’ ” Grint joked in the caption, referencing headlines. “Introducing Goldie G. Grint. ⭐️ A 10/10 baby (so far).”
She enjoys horror films
At the premiere of her 2017 film “Double Date,” Groome spoke about her love for the horror genre.
“Well, I think the nice thing about horror is that people still go to the cinema to watch it,” she said. “I never watch a horror film on my own, I like to have other people to bounce off … it’s a genre that kind of brings people together.”
She also noted that she appreciated how “Double Date” subverted typical horror tropes.
“Especially with horror as a genre, you’re ready to see the girl covered in blood, going ‘Ahhh,’ and running for her life, and in this it’s completely reversed which is just really fun to play with because it’s funnier actually to see men running for their life and screaming and crying, so that was really nice and quite exciting,” she shared.
She and Grint keep their relationship private
While Grint joined Instagram in November 2020, Groome is not on social media. She also rarely speaks publicly and hasn’t accompanied Grint to red carpets or premieres.
Besides occasional glimpses of his daughter, Grint primarily uses his social media to promote his work and has never posted photos of Groome.
“Ultimately, I think it just doesn’t go with my personality,” he explained on “The Tonight Show.” “I’m quite a shy person and the thought of kind of sharing my life just didn’t seem like it would really fit.” He added that he’s “terrible” at Instagram.
“It’s really hard, I never know what to post … It’s mainly Servant trailers and the back of my daughter’s head,” he joked.
